How Do I Disable Voice Control?

I have an iPhone 6s Plus running 9.2.1. To it I connect (through the audio port) a wired headset with a built in mic.

Whenever I connect the two, Voice Control automatically turns on and then iTunes automatically starts playing a random song.

I read some blogs that blamed the headset, but I've already used 3 (including the Apple ear buds) and the same thing keeps happening.

How do I disable this from happening?

On an annoyance scale of 1 to 10 this is a 15. Help! Thank you.

Have you tried this:

Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver

Then switch it off

Thanks for the suggestion, but yes, I have done that. I just checked to make sure and it is 'OFF'.

Have you tried a Forced Restart? Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it comes up. You will not lose anything.

Do you have Siri disabled? Voice Control (which is different than VoiceOver) shouldn't be active unless Siri is turned off.

I have had the same exact problem while working out.

I called Apple and they had me reactivate Siri. You will either have Siri or Voice Control enabled at any given time.

Siri, for me, was much more tolerant and has not ruined my workout thus far - Voice Control was an absolute nightmare to deal with!
